This year, Honorary Fellowships awarded to three pioneers from the industry - Charles C. Crawford, Jr., director, development and qualification, US Army AVRADCOM; Franklin D. Harris, Manager, preliminary design, Bell Helicopter Textron, and Dr. W. Laurence LePage, chairman emeritus of the board, Franklin Institute.

Franklin Harris, also having over twenty years of contributions to rotary wing engineering, was recognized as a leading authority on aerodynamics and an active a provocative participant in the technical debates of the Society and the industry at large.
