The Captain William J. Kossler, USCG Award recipients were the crew members of the US Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater and the US Air Force Reserve's 920th Rescue Group at Patrick Air Force Base who saved 28 sailors from the sinking Merchant Patriot. Representing the US Coast Guard Rescue Team are Captain Crea and representing the US Air Force crews are Captain Phil Kennedy, Aircraft Commander; Senior MSGT Dana Beach, Pararescueman and Major Jay Flournoy, Director of Operations.
