Two Honorary Fellowships for meritorious service in the advancement of rotary wing aeronautics were presented to Lt. Gen. Hamilton H. Howze of the U.S. Army and to Don Ryan Mockler, Director of the Vertical Lift Aircraft Council of the Aerospace Industries Association.

Mockler, active in aviation since 1927, and head of AIA's Helicopter Council since 1951, was honored for having placed the tasks of gaining helicopter acceptance, of serving its manufacturers and users, ahead of his personal life. Those who are familiar with his many years of service to the field of vertical flight know that his efforts have been more than dedicated, and transcend mere competence. In photo Don Ryan Mocker (L.) accepts Honorary Fellowship from Lee S. Johnson, Awards Chairman.
