Honored by FAI - the Federation Aeronautique Internationale, certificates officially recognizing World records were presented by martin Decker, President of the National Aeronautic Association, were Lt. Col. Francis M. Carney, USAF, for establishing an official altitude record of 32,840 feet and also setting three new time-of-climb records; Capt. Bruce K. Lloyd, USN, for three new speed records for 100 kilometers (182.9 miles per hour), 400 kilometers(179.5 miles per hour), and 1,000 kilometers (175.3 miles per hour); Cmdr. Patrick Sullivan, USN, for a new 3 kilometer record of 198.8 miles per hour - the same speed as established by the Mi-6 over the 15/25 kilometer distance; and Lt. Robert W. Crafton, USN, for his new 15/25 kilometer record of 210.65 miles per hour. Capt. Lloyd, Cmdr. Sullivan and Lt. Crafton all established their records in the Sikorsky HSS-2 helicopter.
