The William J. Kossler Award this year was given to two United States Army units - The 56th Medical Platoon (Air Ambulance, Fort Bragg, N.C.), and the 57th Medical Platoon (Air Ambulance, Fort Meade, Maryland), for participation in the rescue operations in the earthquake-stricken region of Southern Chile in May and June of 1960.
