The Sikorsky S-72 Rotor Systems Research Aircraft (RSRA) had the unique ability to fly as a pure helicopter, a compound helicopter, or as a fixed-wing aircraft. The first flight in compound configuration was completed on Monday, April 10, 1978 from Wallops Flight Test Center to Moffett Field.
