
John J. Shapley (center) receives the Frederick L. Feinberg Award from Joe Mallen (left) and Fred Smith. The Feinberg Award is presented to the helicopter pilot who has accomplished the most outstanding achievement toward the advancement of the helicopter during the preceeding year. Shapley was recognized for his 20 years of service as a helicopter test pilot and his outstanding leadership role in the development of the Federal Aviation Administration's Helicopter Certification Directorate.
