William J. Crawford, III (left) receives an Honorary Fellowship from Fred Smith (center) and Joe Mallen. Crawford was recognized for his outstanding contributions and leader­ship in the development of propulsion systems for vertical flight aircraft. Crawford was then Vice President and General Manager of the General Electric Aircraft Engine Group's Military and Small Commercial Engine Products Division. During his career at General Electric he had led the developmental ef­forts for the GE T58 turboshaft engine, managed the T64 test facilities and led the GE T700 development program.
