This year, two groups were selected for the Captain William J. Kossler Award. One was the US Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod CG6032 and CG6039 aircrews, for their heroic rescue of 21 crew members on the Fishing Vessel Atlantic Destiny, which was sinking in 35-ft high seas. The two MH-60T Jayhawk crews battling 50-kt winds. They were represented by CDR Brian Kudrle and Avionics Electrical Technician 1st Class Phillip Morales, and honored by John McGonagall of Sikorsky.
