A Naval Lieutenant and a Marine Corps Captain were awarded the Frederick L. Feinberg Award. Louis K. Keck (left), USMC and Lt, Robert W. Crafton (center), USN, both of the Naval Air Test Center, Patuxent River, Maryland, received the award for establishing an official helicopter speed performance in excess of 200 miles per hour. On February 5, 1962 they flew an SH-3A over a 19-Kilometer course at an average speed of 210.6 miles per hour. In so doing they exhibited exceptional piloting skill and a willingness to undertake a hazardous flight operation in order to advance helicopter state-of-the-art. In photo, both of the pilots are accepting the award from E. J. Ducayet (right), President of the Society.
