A surprise event at the luncheon was the awarding of Air Medals to James R. Wright, a Sikorsky Aircraft test pilot, and Captain William D. Eastman, of the USAF Systems Command, by Brig Gen. R. C. Richardson, deputy chief of staff for science and technology, AFSC. Wright wears his medal in photo, Captain Eastman, center. The Medals were awarded for exceptional piloting skill in developing a mid-air refueling technique involving a Sikorsky CH-3C and a KC-130F tanker plane last December.
