Some of the helicopters on display at the Udvar-Hazy Center. In the front is the Hiller YROE-1 Rotorcycle. Behind it is the P-V Engineering Forum PV-2; on April 11, 1943, Frank Piasecki became the second American to successfully fly a helicopter of his own design, the Piasecki-Venzie PV-2. On the right is the Kaman K-225, the first helicopter to fly with a gas turbine driven transmission. The photo was taken on Sept. 1, 2025, at the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum (NASM) Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia, by Mike Hirschberg. CC BY-SA 4.0
