The Captain William J. Kossler, USCG Award recipients were the South African Air Force Helicopter Aircrews who participated in Operation Lichi, otherwise known as the Mozambique Rescue. By the conclusion of the harrowing operations South African helicopters and aircrews had rescued more than 14,390 people and transported more than 2,100 tons of medical supplies, clothing and blankets to the needy.
