Ray Prouty (left) receives an Honorary Fellowship from Fred Smith. Prouty was recognized for his distinguished career and accomplishments in the area of helicopter and vertical flight aero­dynamics. He began his career with Hughes Helicopters in 1952 and has sub­sequently worked for Sikorsky, Bell and Lockheed, before returning to Hughes in 1973 to participate in the AH-64 Ad­vanced Attack Helicopter Program. His wide range of experiences include preliminary design, performance and flying qualities analysis, wind tunnel testing, airfoils and flight testing.
