The Frederick L. Feinberg Award, given each year to the helicopter pilot who has accomplished the most out­standing achievement, was awarded to Lieutenant John P. Currier, U.S. Coast Guard. Currier was honored for his heroic rescue of 10 people from the burning and sinking fishing vessel TERRY T in the midst of a violent thunderstorm. 
All the 10 men were saved from the TERRY T and throughout the mission Currier and his crew showed exemplary skill and courage.
