"New concepts of safety standards and esthetics for commercial aircraft color designs are being introduced by this striking design for New York Airways' new Vertol H-44 Helicopters developed by the Quantacolor Co., color consultants to the airline. Shown here is the painted model which will serve as the pattern for the paint shop. To the basic pattern of blue, gray and white has been added lettering, striping and rotor tips in fluorescent Rocket Red DAY-GLO paints to make the aircraft visible at great distances in the daytime. This is believed to be the first application of the new durable DAY-Glo fluorescent paints to a scheduled aircraft."
