One day before the Forum began, the Society sponsored a 5 kilometer race that benefitted the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) programs at St. Louis University Hospital and Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital. Several Forum attendees entered the race. One of the driving forces behind the race was Larry Corbin of St. Louis Helicopters who served as race director and coordinated all the different sponsors and worked with the local officials. Rick Roberts, of Spiro Associates, also played a key role, providing publicity for the race.
